Root canals are among the most detailed and technically demanding procedures in dentistry. If you are experiencing severe tooth pain, you might require a root canal.
A root canal is necessary when the pulp within your tooth becomes infected by bacteria (or dies from trauma). The pulp is where your tooth has its nerves and receives its nutrients to survive. A root canal procedure involves locating this tissue within the root, removing it, cleaning the canal space and filling it. Root canal procedures are highly successful, about 90%, but not all teeth can be saved.
In those cases when the tooth cannot be saved, we can discuss options for replacing the tooth with a removable partial denture, a fixed bridge or a dental implant and crown.
North Canton Root Canal Exams
When you come into our North Canton dentistry office for a root canal exam, you can be confident that we will get to the ‘root’ of the matter. Through the use of our 3-D CT scan, we are able to accurately diagnose damaged and diseased teeth and more importantly differentiate between those that can and cannot be saved. The 3-D scan helps us locate all of the canals, which is important because “missed” canals are the biggest reason that root canals fail.
When a root canal is needed, we can either treat it immediately or make a follow-up appointment to complete the procedure. We perform all root canals in our North Canton office and will make sure you don’t feel a thing. Our goal is always to save your tooth, but we have plenty of other options for those times when that is not possible.
