TOOTH COLORED FILLINGS
Silver-Mercury fillings used to be the industry standard for filling cavities. As dental technology evolved, other better materials became available. At Van Hala Dental Group, we have long since replaced amalgams with composite-resin or tooth colored fillings. We have quite a few reasons why.
More Aesthetically Pleasing
Many of our patients have complained about the metallic appearance of their amalgam fillings. They don’t want to look like they have metal in their mouth. This is one of the reasons why the Van Hala Dental Group has made the switch to composite-resin fillings.
Tooth colored fillings blend in with your other teeth. No one will even know that you’ve had a tooth filled.
Tooth colored fillings strengthen teeth and help them last longer. Whereas silver-mercury fillings, stay in teeth with a mechanical lock (think the inside part is bigger/ wider than the outside) and are made out of metal, which expands, and contracts with temperature changes causing cracks over time, composite fillings are bonded restorations that actually make teeth stronger.
