How Does Oral Sedation Work?

Oral sedation is ideal for patients with mild to moderate dental anxiety or fear. This type of sedation dentistry addresses these issues while also helping to manage pain during the procedure. Oral sedation is taken in pill form an hour before your appointment, with sedative effects lasting anywhere from 2-6 hours, allowing us to achieve necessary procedures while you are in a sleepy and relaxed state. Along with providing calming experiences, oral sedation also produces a state of amnesia for patients and many have little-to-no recollection of the actual appointment, though they are able to respond to commands during the procedure. We will be able to determine your candidacy for sedation dentistry at your consultation, along with providing you with all the information you need to feel confident in your sedation choice and undergoing treatment with us.

Don’t let dental anxiety hold you back!
